The Attack of the Kleptoctopus

posted in: Blog | 2

Really happy with how this piece came out. It combines my two loves, photography and illustration. My initial concept idea for this had nothing to with evil octopi trying to steal rainbow umbrellas, but that’s an upcoming blog post ๐Ÿ™‚

Big thank you to Jessica (who is great model, talented photographer, and my good friend) for putting together her gorgeous look and being a part of this project. Fighting an evil octopus and walking in heels on rocks is a lot harder than it looks!

Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of getting together with Martin Hosking, Laurie Briggs, and Peter Tomassi from RedBubble, along with some of the Chicago RedBubble artists. RedBubble is the main website which produces and sell my prints along with thousands of other artists.

And, they came bearing RedBubble swag with my work on it:

Currently, I don’t have any t-shirts on the site, but “Every Bone” looks great on a shirt so I may have to add the t-shirt option there soon.

RedBubble does great work on the products. In addition, their brand colors and their new RB logo naturally fit just right with Razorberries. Awesome coincidence.

After our get together, I went home feeling energized with new ideas. Or, to put it more accurately, my brain was doing the happy dance.

I met Lindsay while walking on the beach one morning. She was sitting on the edge of a dock, playing her guitar when I walked up and asked to photograph her.

She instantly recognized my camera, which was a Nikon D40x at that time, and mentioned she has one just like it and loves photography but doesn’t know much about it.

Likewise, I told her that I love music and have tried to learn to play the guitar many times, but never could quite get it down.

I’m so proud of Anya, my little sister. Not only did she graduate college with honors last weekend, she also became a U.S. citizen yesterday, along with my mom. I took these graduation photos of Anya a couple weeks ago.

Say hello to my little friend:

Hello? Devin?

Hello, Devin!

A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of photographing the coolest little dude in town and his family. Devin sure knows how to have fun. We played on the swings, chased some birds, and played with dandelions and pine cones by the lake. But then, the sun set and it was time to go home.

Bye, Devin!
