Last page of 2008

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

Dear 2008,
You started out like every year, fresh and full of hope. Like a blank sketchbook.
Each day was like filling a page with drawings, photos, and writing. At the end of the day I could look over the page and see how the day was spent.
Sometimes it was a good day, the page was [...]

All wrapped up

Presents for the ones who were nice. I had way too much fun wrapping these.

Painting with watercolors sometimes feels like sculpting

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Each time I add a darker wash to layers, it creates an illusion of shadow and depth. It’s like I’m digging into the paper with a brush to create a indentation even though I’m actually building layers on top of layers. That’s one of my favorite things about using watercolors. Also the major ones [...]

Goodbye Letter framed

Sunday, November 9th, 2008

‘Goodbye Letter’ all framed and pretty in my kitchen this morning, before I took it to the gallery. I’m just not sure if I’m ready to say goodbye. It might not sell, so maybe I won’t have to. This will be one of the three pieces in the holiday show, soon.

Easy to fall and stay there

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

It was so pretty, I didn’t wanna leaf.
This is what you do when you don’t know what to do with yourself: you run away and roll around in dirt. I went on a walk at the park today because it was a really nice day. Everyone is always so surprised when it gets warm all [...]

Loud Silence

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

* take a picture of yourself right now.
* don’t change your clothes, don’t fix your hair… just take a picture.
* post that picture with NO editing.
* post these instructions with your picture.
* come on, everyone’s doing it!

Here’s a free wallpaper of a seagull and Lake Michigan for those who are obsessed with water like I [...]

Little tools

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

Framing is fun, and I get to use my little tools. Of course, there’s also the matte cutter, scissors, etc, that’s not in the picture. That staple-gun-looking thing is a point driver, used to drive points into the frame to hold the backboard on the back. The little hammer is my favorite, given to me [...]

Wannabe

Sunday, August 17th, 2008

Haha, who does he think he is? I’ll never get sick of Navy Pier and the seagulls. Even if someday one of them actually shits on me.

This one failed at stalking my mom.

Finally took a ride on the ferris wheel.
These were all taken last thursday and it’s the only day I really remember. The rest [...]
