Wanna know a secret?

“Inc” » watercolor & ink » 8×10 framed
I make lots of mistakes. Sometimes, when I’m painting, like the other day. I was working on this piece and listening to music.

But my mind must have been consumed by something else because it wasn’t paying attention when my hand picked up the ink bottle and tilted it too much while I also had an ink brush in the same hand.

Oops. Undo! Undo! Wait, can’t. This is real life. So much for multitasking.
So, the inky clouds weren’t part of the original plan but I really think it made the illustration more intense. Why didn’t I think of this before? Or maybe I did, subconsciously.

Shit happens even while you’re not paying attention. The sooner you realize your mistake and do something about it, the sooner you can improve. Take what you’ve got and do what you can. And although we’ve learned these lessons before, why do we keep making the same mistakes over and over?
